Why do I paint? Well being creative, keeps me alive and happy. I will also leave a record of my time on earth. My real art journey started in 1974. But when I look back, I have always drawn and painted. Much of my plein air work was done in the first ten years of my journey. Recently I made the decission to again work directly from nature. Working small and fast to deal with changing light, I use brush knife and fingers to capture what I think I see, and what I feel.. The colour harmony of the single light source, our sun, as it bathes the subject. These days usually landscape, or or a small part of it. Headphones give me the music that I love, and the public privacy than I need to stay in the creative zone. Use paint as if you are a millioneer. Now days especialy in my plein air work, I like to build a surface that shows the impasto brushstrokes.A recent health problem threatened to cut short my art journey. To deal with this I tried to make use of every day with good light. Then a lucky break. Right place right time. A chance to take part in a worldwide cancer drug trial. Fifty percent chance of geting a placibo. Now three months into the trial I feel so fit and well that, If I am on placibo, then at least the placibo effect is working. Perhaps I'm on the real thing. Time will tell. Now I don't feel compelled to paint each fine day. Once or twice a week gives me time for other creative outlets, plus my sport, competitive lawn bowls. My earlier works are unpriced. They are a record of my journey, I cant release them. Art collectors will find the best value for money in my plein air gallery. Please check it out. I also invite offers on my studio works. I have priced them on what I think of them quality wise. Perhaps I am a bit too involved in the creative process to be objective in this matter. I invite the visitors views on this also. My family is a worry. I fear that they may hold a huge garage sale and spend the proceeds on a big party when I check out. Hmmm? Thanks for the visit. If you read to here perhaps you like my work. Hope so. Well the best of it anyway. Terry Perham. b.Blenheim NZ. 1941. End of story. Well hopefully not, ha!
